OUR MISSION

HOUC Africa envisions a day when all the schools operate independently and when all of the students, non-orphans and orphans alike, graduate with a quality education and a promising future.”
HOUC AFRICA addresses the unique challenges of orphans and underprivileged children in AFRICA . Getting an education, trading gives these children opportunities for jobs and careers pulling them out of poverty. The educational system in the countries we are operating fails when compared to the urgent need. Children, particularly orphans, simply don’t get enough education for a variety of reasons, almost all of them related to extreme poverty. Making quality education
available for ALL students is a great success.

The work we do makes an impact on many levels. Boys and girls who go to school are protected from dangers such as child trafficking, early marriage, violence and assault. Our health education and health insurance help keep the children healthy from disease. Providing
nutritious meals eliminates malnutrition, and sickness. Education empowers these children to get jobs and or create careers. It breaks the cycle of poverty. These children have hope and opportunities to be able to support their families and contribute in Africa’s countries economy.

To ensure that each orphan, underprivileged knows some people somewhere cares for them. HOUC AFRICA strives to demonstrate divine love for orphans and underprivileged children by raising the standard of care and accountability for orphanages around AFRICA

OUR PURPOSE

We aim to give the most vulnerable in Africa hope and the future. We offer a hand-up, rather
than a hand-out, to Africans caring for orphans through orphanages and home-based care

● We complete a comprehensive assessment of all potential partners or host family. We require original receipts for all purchases made from grants to host families in order to safeguard against misuse of funds
● We aims to ensure that as high percentage as possible of the donations we receive are sent directly to our center & partner organizations in Africa. Our organization is run almost exclusively by volunteers in order to keep staff costs to a minimum. HOUCAFRICA will be publicized largely by word of mouth and via social media, e-mail. This
will keep mailing costs low as we avoid sending out paper materials to our supporters.

WHY IT MATTERS

Diseases, COVID and other pandemy have left victims of all ages. Many children have been orphaned. Children’s lives are changed forever with HOUC AFRICA . Without assistance and an education, these children live in severe poverty and critical conditions with limited resources
cannot survive. They are the forgotten children in the targeted zones we intervene in. Since 2017, HOUC AFRICA has provided quality assistance in education, apprenticeship, health and food for many children. We plan to raise our schools rank assistance highly by the
Government in the continent. So far, our students we assist have gone on to successful jobs, apprenticeship, careers, and advanced to higher education. They are able to support themselves and their families and become contributing members in the country’s economy

AWARENESS

  • To raise the awareness of the world-wide orphan and vulnerable children crisis. The number of orphaned children in the world is swelling day after day as diseases, civil war, and corrupt governments have dealt crushing blows to children around the globe.

STRATEGY & VALUE

HOUC AFRICA believes it can best assist orphans and the underprivileged through a combination of various innovative, yet practical strategies to become self-sufficient.
● Construct and support self-sustainable schools for orphans that focus on educational, apprenticeship excellence and leadership
● Provide safe residences where they can live and thrive
● Provide preventive health education and assistance
● Collaborate with local, non-profit organizations, faith based organizations and individuals
● Collaborate with international nonprofit charities
● Foster strong relationships with local communities and governments.
● We focus on ensuring that children in our care are receiving an adequate level of assistance. This care impacts every area of their life including spiritual, physical, intellectual, psychological and emotional. We require that each orphanage and host family we support sign a covenant which outlines our requirements. A principal key component of our accreditation is that they will agree to be monitored by a local and
international HOUC AFRICA board or short-term teams. This will create a level of accountability which we believe is essential.
● We also train children in agriculture as we establish gardening and farming at the orphanages and raising animals.

ACTION

● Calling people to action in order to raise the standard of care for orphans; mobilizing a broad network of individuals, businesses, faith based organizations to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of orphans and vulnerable children. In all that we do,
● Holistic Care: Programs that meet spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs.
● Create training Centers and transition programs for at-risk youth to prepare them for an independent living.
● Create Self-Sustainability: Microenterprise business opportunities to keep families together specially for widows.

PROJECTS

HOUC AFRICA partners and volunteers which are assisting the orphans and underprivileged children and according to a model of self-sustainability. Meaning, that once shelters, schools are constructed, and registered with the government, it is capable of supporting itself, HOUC
AFRICA’S model will combines tuition-paying students with fully-dependent orphan students. Tuition received from parents of non-orphan students covers the costs of teachers’ salaries, school operation, plus the room and board of the orphans. Also, by combining non-orphans with
orphans, social stigmas and prejudices will be reduced as opposed to being reinforced through orphan-only schools.
HOUC AFRICA believes in development and independence, not aid. Development at the grassroots level empowers people to rise to their own giftedness, to break the cycle of poverty, and to one day declare, “We are transforming lives.”

EDUCATION

Supporting children’s development:
The education program provides funding for school fees and other tuition-related expenses, uniforms, books and school supplies. A good education will enable our children and youth to become successful adults who contribute back to their society and fulfill their divine destiny and
purpose in their chosen occupations. As we are enabled, our group of volunteers makes it possible for older orphans to learn a trade or attend college to further their education and find hope, opportunity and significance as they move into adulthood. This education program is designed to support children’s development by enabling access to education. Without the skills to earn a living they are likely to re-enter the cycle of poverty once they become adults. By ensuring that the children of our center and partners work to have the opportunity of a good education, we hope to break that cycle. It also focuses on improving access to education and resourcing our center & partners who operate schools. Some of our partners work with orphans living with guardians in the community and others run children’s homes offering holistic care. In both cases, our education program provides financial support that enables the children to attend school. Free education is rare in Africa, and our support covers help with purchasing text books and uniforms, as well as paying school fees and exam fees. We also support schools and vocational training programs that allow young people to learn skills they can use to earn a living.

FOOD

Feeding the children with healthy food is important for their mental and physical development. We strive to feed them with healthy food. They are not hungry because there is not enough food, or there is a lack of nutrition programs. Children are food insured because they face poverty and do not participate in nutrition program at private or public school and in their communities. Your donation will help tackle their malnutrition.
This program includes:

CLOTHING

We collect clothes as other donations that could help clothe the children.

HEALTH CARE ASSISTANCE or MEDICAL EXPENSES

We need health care assistance. As well as for other areas and we are calling for volunteers for assistance.

SHORT-TERM

BASIC ASSISTANCE
HOUC AFRICA seeks to transform orphans and vulnerable children’s lives through its assistance program which focuses on meeting their most critical needs. This program is at the forefront of our work in fighting poverty, responding to emergency situations to secure a better
future. HOUC AFRICA provides basic assistance for FOOD, CLOTHINGS, EDUCATION, SHELTER & MEDICAL EXPENSES to orphans and host families struggling to make ends meet for children under their care. This includes responding to requests for emergency assistance
from HOUC AFRICA & partners whenever intervention is necessary. Our assistance is often vital, but it only acts as a temporary remedy and we aim to move our orphanage centers & partners towards self-sustainability.

LONG TERM

SHELTER
● Construction Program for sheltering children. Right now, volunteer families are helping in sheltering children in need. We have planned to initiate a construction program which aims to build the orphanages with capacity to host shelters, school and training centers by investing in capital projects. This is a new and urgent program which we plan to develop as our donations increase. Fulfilling these needs is one of our goals and our construction program aims to grow our capability in this area as we develop the necessary knowledge and expertise. This will help us avoid property monthly rental expenses burden.
● This program includes renovating school properties in need in far villages.

AGRICULTURE

By building the agricultural infrastructure needed to produce food and provide training in environmentally sound agricultural practices.
FARMING: Maize, corn is rich in Iron, Vitamin B6, and Magnesium, and can be ground into flour. Cassava is low in fat, and high in vitamin K, B6 and micronutrients. The whole plan is edible, and the roots can be ground into flour. Sweet Potatoes are an excellent source of Vitamin A and Potassium Chickens will provide eggs, high in protein and filled with essential vitamins. Fruit Trees are an excellent source of Vitamin A and Potassium. MICRO-ENTERPRISE

Our micro-enterprise program is designed to build our center & partners’ long-term capacity by developing sustainable income streams for self-sufficiency. We will use micro-enterprise as a tool to grow financial independence by providing small grants to encourage and support
business ventures run by African families caring for orphans and defenseless children.Micro-enterprise is a crucial means of empowering people to escape from permanent dependence and poverty, fight it and reduce their dependence on aid. We work alongside partners to select appropriate micro-enterprise initiatives, drawing on their knowledge of what businesses work best in their individual environment. We will then provide a start-up grant and follow-up service enabling our partners to invest in the initial outlay for the businesses. By providing advice and support we aim to encourage, nurture our partners’ entrepreneurial skills as their business grows. Once the business is generating profits, a proportion of these are used to support the orphans in our center & partners’ care and the rest will be reinvested in the business.

We quickly learned that dealing with malnutrition would not be enough, we needed to work with the orphanages to find preventative solutions. This has come in the form of clean water, sanitation training, and farming initiatives. We are planning to launch the first small scale farming. Our micro-farm will not only provide a healthy and nutritious food for the orphanages we serve, but will also become a training center, so orphanages may develop their own sustainable farm, empowering orphanages to become self-sufficient and raise the standard of care for the children in their care.

Selling the fruits of farming
We will fund a variety of businesses and always welcome new ideas for new ventures. Many of our partners are based in rural areas and micro-enterprise initiatives to date have and will focus on raising livestock (goat farming and poultry farming), selling maize and milling corn or rice. Our partner in West Africa uses their expertise in tailoring to make and sell school uniform. Our strategy is to partner with volunteers, world humanitarian and faith based organizations and churches working with orphaned and abandoned children to help build orphan care centers and partners’ capacity so that one day they would be self-sufficient. As our work with partners and volunteers progresses, we aim to direct our involvement through other programs to support children’s well-being through (child sponsorship and education programs) and build longer term capacity (Shelter construction and micro-enterprise and small-scale Farming programs).

● HOUC AFRICA proposes to implement a program of small-scale farming within orphanages in developing countries where organic fruits of the ground are culturally appropriate and common practice. Certain organic fruits of the ground are highly nutritious, containing high fat, protein and micronutrient contents with much lower resource demands and environmental impacts and local traditional livestock. Small scale farming and raising live stocks will enable food secure orphanages a low-cost, consistent and nutritious food source, which also has the potential for generating extra income.
● The first goal of HA’s program in this area is to provide a sustainable source of protein and micronutrients to the most disadvantaged children through small scale food grade and animal cultivation within orphanages.
● A second goal is to provide vocational training in Farming and live stocks are rearing techniques where older orphans who will leave the institution as adults, with a focus on young women and men, having improved prospects to support themselves after they leave the orphanage.

WATER WELLS DIGGING PROJECTS

Your gift will provide technical assistance and supplies (concrete, drilling supplies, etc…) for building water well in rural areas in Togo and other country around Africa. We believe getting access to clean water is the foundation to the first steps of development that a rural area takes. And it has an immediate impact on every part of a rural life. One water well could serve over 500 people.

We distribute funds fairly to different department to avoid potential relational problems which can cause funds misused or lack of adequate management. With the support and the assistance of sponsors, we work with humanitarian organizations, churches, faith-based organizations to help our center & partners develop the capacity to take care of themselves and our programs aim to address the needs of both sponsored children and other children in their community.
Many of our centers and some partners do not own their properties and are faced with unsuitable buildings as well as the burden of monthly rental payments. By investing in dedicated infrastructure, our vision is to provide suitable facilities and contribute towards long-term financial stability. Our construction program also hopes to cover provision of utilities such as clean water and supplies of reliable electricity.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Our child sponsorship program is designed to support children’s development by encouraging relationships with our donors while providing for their physical needs through financial support. We understand the importance of a child’s emotional development and aim to equip our orphanage center & partners as they seek to provide holistic care. We also believe there is value in linking individual orphans and underprivileged children with specific donors and we encourage regular correspondence through our child sponsorship program, building bridges between cultures. This emotional link can be very precious for an orphaned child. As well as sending letters or gifts, we encourage donors to pray regularly for the child they sponsor. Child sponsorship also helps to challenge and educate sponsors in the developed world by encouraging connections between H. A’s children and our supporters across the globe.
